Biography

About me

Adriano Koch (27) is a Swiss pianist, composer and multidisciplinary artist from Lausanne, now based in Basel. Performing on stage since childhood, he began playing concerts at 11 and built his musical language through improvisation, emotional intensity, and a deep attraction to the fragile, human side of sound. Still in his teens, he was already playing with musicians a decade older than him and developing a singular voice shaped by jazz, contemporary piano, and the freedom of live creation. Over the years, he has performed at venues and festivals including Le Romandie, Les Docks Lausanne, Usine à Gaz, Montreux Jazz Festival, Piano City Madrid (SP), Reeperbahn Festival (DE). His song “Brief” passed 700,000 streams on Spotify in 2021. He is signed to Radicalis in Basel and published by Wise Music Creative in Berlin.

Koch’s path, however, has never been a straightforward rise. After going through major depressive episodes at 9 and 15, art became more than a passion: it became a place of survival. At 17, he left school and home because music had become taboo there - his passion, and therefore a fundamental part of who he was, had no place in that environment. With no financial support, he chose to leave in order to pursue what he loved, and built his life outside academic institutions through concerts, piano lessons, relentless practice, and later parallel work in photography and videography. For him, creation was the only place where he could return to himself.

Before the pandemic, Koch was gaining momentum with his blend of piano and electronica. Then COVID interrupted that movement and exposed something deeper: music had become entangled with pressure and the need to prove his own worth. He stepped away from live performance for three years, moved to Swiss Germany, built his music studio in Basel and gradually found his way back to art from a radically different place: a place of freedom and truth.

That return now takes shape in RAW, a filmed studio series in which each session begins with one rule: by the end of the session, a song must exist. Usually created in one take at the piano, each episode also includes spoken self-reflection and a hand-drawn cover artwork, all born from the same emotional state. RAW is both a compositional method and a healing practice: a way of transforming vulnerability into form without polishing it into something safer.

Today, Koch’s work moves between contemporary piano, improvisation, voice, ambient textures and raw visual expression. His concerts are completely improvised. Unique experiences that one would never hear twice. His artistic vision is driven by a simple necessity: he cannot imagine a life in which he does not create every day. After an essential break, Adriano Koch returns with a body of work shaped by experience, risk, and radical honesty.
